The first prototype of computer mouse was invented in the 1963-1964. The one who invent this computer mouse was a man named Douglas Engelbartas. The invention was cause by him because he was trying to find a more promising way to to point and click on a monitor screen.
However the first mouse that he was created was very huge in size and uncomfortable. It was craved out of wood and it only has one button to begin with. It works by using two wheels made out of metals which in turn made a contact with the working surface. Above all he name it to be a computer mouse because the main idea was resemble by a mouse. "It was nicknamed the mouse because the tail came out the end," Engelbart revealed about his invention. Douglas Engelbart was awarded the 1997 Lemelson-MIT Prize of $500,000, the world's largest single prize for invention and innovation. In 1998, he was inducted into the National Inventor Hall of Frame. However in the 1972 the ball-computer mouse was invented by a man named Bill English. It is more convenient to use a ball-computer mouse rather than the old version computer mouse because of the ball that is use instead of the two metal wheels. This promoted its movement as it is more free to move in all direction rather that limited direction of the old version computer mouse.
